Counting the pre-production and production, it took five months to get Paper Walls finished, from October 15th 2006 until March 22th 2007.
The initial idea before the recording process was to make a list of 12 songs, but the band couldn't decide which one would be off, so they released 13.

"Oh My Love" (Instant Karma's bonus track) was recorded in the Paper Walls recording process and was the first song to get finished.
Sean used his acoustic violin in a lot of tracks instead of the electric one which needs more effects.
“Five Becomes Four” is about Benjamim Harper, the former-guitarrist.
The voice that reads the letter on "Dear Bobbie" was recorded by Ryan Key's grandfather. The song is dedicated to the 58-year-old love relationship between him and his grandmother.
