New blog post!

Ryan has published a new blog post on MySpace.
Check it out:

"all good things.

This acoustic tour is just incredible. I was really looking forward to it but I had no idea it was going to be this amazing. Every night there is an energy between the band and the audience that is totally different than it has ever been. I have even been super sick the last 5 days and it hasn’t thrown us off a step. Thanks to everyone who has come to the shows so far and if you are still thinking about coming to a show please do. I promise it will be a good night for both of us.

MxPx is replaced

Ryan commented the replace of MxPx on the blog:

"The Spill Canvas to Replace MXPX on Upcoming Tour

We recently released the information about our upcoming tour which starts in March. Unfortunately MXPX is now unavailable for the dates which we are sad to hear. However we have what we think is incredible news as we have some great friends that will be filling the slot. The Spill Canvas is in my opinion one of the best new bands around and we are happy to have them. If you didn't read anything about the tour, we will be playing acoustic eery night and the set list is loaded with stuff you haven't heard in a long time. Can't wait to get on the road.

New Ryan blog!!! :D

After almost two months with no blogs... Ryan showed up!!
He commented the shows in Kuwait, what he'd like to do there and how was everything.
Read:

"Home Safe

This past week has been quite an experience. Sean, Mendez, and myself travelled to the Middle East to perform for our service men and women stationed there. It was 19 hours of flying each way and we just got back today. While we were there we had been scheduled to play in Kuwait the first day and then head north into Iraq for the rest of the trip. At the last minute the President came in after his visit to Israel which made it impossible to get a flight north. All of the resources there were being used for security. So we made some changes and ended up playing the bases in and around Kuwait instead. Even though we didn't get to be in Iraq and fire machine guns out of the sides of helicopters and drive tanks(which were just a couple of the things we were hoping to do), it was still an amazing trip for the three of us. We played the shows acoustic which gave us the chance to really hang out with the troops during the show. We really felt like we were bringing a piece of home to them and could tell how grateful they were to spend some time away from their normal routine. We have never held our tongues when it came to our feelings about the war in Iraq, however we have always said that although we may not support the entire mission, we will always support the men and women who are there. We would like to thank everyone there that came to the shows and especially those that took care of us while we were there. It was something we will remember for as long as we live. We wish only for everyone there to return home safe.

-Ryan"

It was a really cool attitude to have done shows there!!
But Ryan, Kuwait is not an amusement park, right?! HAHAHAHA :P
What songs did they play there, huh? Suggestions??!

Europe shows postponed

Yellowcardiacs, Ryan updated the Myspace blog with sad news. LP's grandmother isn't very healthy and some shows in Europe were canceled because of the time he'll be out of the band to stay with her....
Read the complete blog post:

Germany, Austria, Swiss shows postponed

Hello everyone. I have some unfortunate news. We have been planning on coming to Germany, Austria and Switzerland for a tour in January and were very excited about it. Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the dates indefinitely. LP is very close with his Grandmother who raised him in Jacksonville, FL and her health is failing. He has asked us if he could take some time to be home with her over these next couple of months. We of course support him and know that this is a difficult time for him and his family. The tickets for the shows are fully refundable and we will let everyone know as soon as we have any information regarding the rescheduling of the tour. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much and we look forward to making this tour happen as soon as possible. Thank you.

Myspace blog

Ryan published a new blog talking about Casey Calvert's death. Check it:

Sad...

I heard today that Casey Calvert from Hawthorne Heights passed away in his sleep last night. I certainly don't have the right words to say. We were fortunate enough to have the chance to play with him and I remember nothing but smiles when he was around at shows. I am not very good friends with the guys personally but I cannot imagine what they are going through right now. Our thoughts are with them and I am sure they could use some friendly words on their myspace page. Such sad news.

Thanksgiving Day!

Sean left a message on Myspace blog:

family of friends....

"happy thanksgiving!! its funny that we arrived in japan on an american holiday. a day that is usually spent watching football and pigging out on old family recipes, hanging with the folks and all nearby friends, and taking food induced naps, we here at yellowcard spent most of the day travelling. and after our 14 hour travel day was over, we all got together and had a nice italian dinner! i had the bolognese and shared a small pep pizza with lp. it was pretty good too. i have been to japan three times in the last six months, and everything is starting to look really familiar. its a pretty awesome place, one of my favorites in the whole world. but i do kinda miss my family and loved ones today. im just really lucky i travel with my other family. the people i have lived with for the past 8 years. and it was really nice to just sit down and have dinner as a family. that is what holidays are all about, being with your family. so have a safe holiday, and please, for the love of God, eat a piece of pumpkin pie for me."
sean

As soon as we find, we will put a video here from the Japanese tour, ok?!

HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING DAY!!!

New message on Myspace blog!

Today Ryan posted a new message on Myspace, read it:

Goodbye October...

"We are in Tulsa, OK for a day off. Last night we played a show in nashville in this cool little bar for about 75 people. It was amazing. We all just had fun and hung out with everyone at the show. You forget how much fun those little bars can be when youve been in a tour bus for 4 years. It was awesome.

Mendez and I went to see the new Robert Redford (who is one of my all time favortite actors by the way) film, Lions for Lambs. It was stunning. If you are having a bad day don't go see it because it is really heavy. It was perfectly acted in my opinion.

The Blue October tour is over in two days. Hard to believe we have been out with them for 8 weeks. Thanks to everyone who has come to the shows. It has really been a fun tour for all of us. Now its off to Japan to play with Linkin Park. We are so excited. The shows are going to be massive."

New Ryan blog!

After a week with no updates, Ryan has just showed up to tell how was his last days enjoying the family He also talks about football and the tour with Blue October.

Don’t Mess With Texas...and go dawgs!

Hello out there. How's everyone? I spent the weekend with Mom, Dad, my sister, and some of my best friends in Phoenix. They flew in for the Georgia/Florida football game since I could not go home to Jacksonville to see it in person. For those of you that don't know, my Mom's side of the family which is rather large (two aunts, an uncle, both grandparents, and eight cousins) is from Atlanta, GA. I grew up in a Georgia Bulldogs family so Georgia/Florida weekend is always a big deal in my house. Until this year we had won the game only twice since I was 10 years old. That's two out of seventeen! Well this year we won the game and I spent the day with my family even though I was on tour in Arizona. It was perfect.

So now on to touring. We are starting the run with Blue October through Texas. These are the biggest shows of the tour since Blue October is from Texas so we are looking forward to them. We saw some of you on Warped this summer and hopefully youre coming back to see us.

Thats all for now. If youre bored call or email the radio and ask them to play Light Up the Sky. That sounds like such a good idea!

End of summer blog

A new blog has just been published by Ryan on Yellowcard Myspace:

No more summer?

Could it be true? The longest most scorching hot summer has finally ended! Well at least it seems like it might have ended. Don't get me wrong I love being outside on the beach in the sun as much as anyone but touring in 100 degree weather just gets to be a little much when its still that hot in October. We are in Milwaukee today and it is cloudy and cold and I love it. Is that weird? I guess I'm a winter person. Who else moves to New York City in December?

Shows are still going well. I have a pretty bad cold right now so if you're coming out to a show the next couple of days just bear with me. Ok Bye

New message from Ryan!

New message from Ryan!

Ryan has just written a message talking about the day off of the band, they spent it watching the new Ben Stiller movie¹, eating at Dave and Buster's² and watching the game Yankees x Indians. Read it:

Day off....boring...

You know we say all the time how much we would love to get a day off to just relax and get some rest. When we finally get one though, after we go to the local mall, maybe see a movie, I find myself bored out of my mind wishing we were playing a show. I am not complaining, I'm just have hotel room fever. We went to one of the strangest malls I've ever seen to see the new Ben Stiller movie today in St. Louis. It was ok. I would wait for dvd rental though. It wasn't as funny as I wanted it to be. Our hotel is right next door to a Dave and Buster's. We ate there 3 times yesterday! So I guess we are all heading over there in a bit to watch the Yankees/Indians game. Our tour manager is a huge Yankees fan and since my Braves are not in the playoffs it is fun to watch him watch the games.

I also wanted to mention that we are having such a great time on this tour. We will be visiting the merch booth after we play every night so if you are an all time fan or especially if youve never met us before, please come say hi. Tomorrow we get back to work so we will see everyone in St. Louis soon.

-Ryan"

¹ for those curious minds, the Ben Stiller movie is "The Heartbreak Kid"

On the Road Again

Ryan has just written a new blog post, telling news to the fans.
Read it:

On the road again

We have found ourselves in Allentown, PA this fine Sunday afternoon. We spent the day watching football on the bus which is one of our favorite things to do while on the road. I am just now writing this but I meant to say how amazing the show in Toronto was. It was the first show we have headlined on our own since Paper Walls came out. Everyone knew the words to the new stuff and made us feel really confident abot playing it. We are hoping for the same result tonight. Tomorrow is our last day with Sum 41 and then we are off to begin the Blue October tour. All of the dates for that tour are up and on sale and it is going to be a long one so please come out and say hi. We need YC fans to come and show them how its done. See you soon.

Top 5 album openers

1.Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana "Nevermind"
This is the reason I picked up a guitar. It was the first riff I ever learned. It is legendary.

2.Linoleum-NOFX "Punk in Drublic"
This song was the first note of punk rock I ever heard. The cred police may give me crap for that but what can I say? I grew up watching MTV and then there was NOFX.

3.Tired Of Sex-Weezer "Pinkerton"
I am biased because this is one of my all time favorite records but let's just say lyrically I get it. We will be alright Rivers.

4.Narcolepsy-Ben Folds Five "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner"
I waited outside Streetlight Records in Santa Cruz, CA the day this record came out and this song turned my car into a concert hall. This band is all time for me.

5.Burnout-Green Day "Dookie"
The opening track to the soundtrack for your life if you were born in 1979. I can document each chapter of my adolesence and adulthood by which Green Day record I was listening to. This was page one.

Watch out Sydney...

"Wow. That is all I can say about how insane the show at the Metro in Melbourne was last night. I have always loved coming to Australia but playing these new songs and getting blown off the stage by the crowd in front of us, well I have fallen in love with this country all over again. Everyone coming to Luna Park in Sydney has their work cut out for them.

Before I head out to get some food I would like to share with you an experience I've just had. I am sitting in my hotel room in Sydney flipping through the channels on the TV and the last three are radio stations. As i changed to NOVA FM I heard them say "Foo FIghters" so I stopped. The Foo's are one of my all time favorite and most influential bands. They're new single "The Pretender" was about to be played for the first time on that station and the first time to my ears. So I sat and waited through some bad pop and then it arrived at 7:30 pm. I would not be so arrogant to assume that we are all of your favorite band, but I know how excited some of you were to hear new stuff from us. Just thought you'd like to know that I still get excited like that too. The song was amazing for the first listen and I cannot wait for the new Foo Fighters record. hahahahahhhaa no way! Right this second Light Up the Sky came on the same station! wow...if you told me when I started playing guitar at 13 that one day a song by my band would be on the same countdown as a song written by Dave Grohl I would have told you to get on some medication. Super cool. Love you guys."
